About LSK:
L’nu Sipuk Kina’muokuom (Indian Brook “House of Learning”) opened its doors in September of 2008. LSK offers a K4 to 12 programming with a curriculum equivalent to the province. Mi’kmaq language, culture and traditions are integrated throughout all subject areas while creating an environment conducive to learning for all students.
L’nu Sipuk Kina’muokuom staff share an educational philosophy which involves nurturing and educating the whole child. All students are encouraged to reach their potential by focusing on their learning and individual successes.
All staff at LSK are committed to be “life-long learners” therefore LSK offers, and staff are encouraged to seek out professional development opportunities that will transfer into the classroom creating our best practices in teaching standards. LSK is a community-based school that is unique in that while remaining true to provincial curriculum, it incorporates culturally sensitive material to enrich and promote Mi’kmaq language, history and culture. A range of extra curricular activities covering sports, arts, computers, education, etc. are offered to students to enhance learning and encourage students to try new things.
