The Social department is responsible to provide basic social assistance that includes overseeing programs such as our social utility and heating program, home maintenance program, and providing basic living allowance (ration). We also administer Sipekne’katik’s special needs program, which ensures that our band members with special needs have adequate resources. For example, band members that have medical challenges can access this program to acquire medical equipment such as a hospital bed.
