Fishery Licensing & Applications
Every year, the fisheries department will post Request for Proposal (RFP), allowing anyone to apply for licenses for a lease fee.
When the RFP is open, it is open for six weeks, which will then be opened, evaluated and recommended to the Chief and Council. Once this is finalized and accepted, the contracts for said license will be signed and the lease fee paid.
RFPs to apply for a license will be available on this website.
Licensing & Application Details
As with all commercial communal licenses, designations must be uploaded on the Department of Fisheries and Oceans National Online licensing system. The designations will state all pertinent information such as license number, vessel name and number, captain and crew. Once this is submitted, conditions for the license will be downloaded. The conditions will state rules and regulations to that fishery which is then handed off to the captain with the fishing tags.
Fishery Application
The Fisheries department has a list of potential candidates who must have their MED certificate to apply for deckhand positions on fishing vessels. Once selected, pre-employment drug screening will be scheduled and a contract will be made up for the assigned fishing season.
