Community Adults ages 55+ are invited to attend Glow Halifax on Wednesday, December 11th, 2024. Transportation is provided and will be leaving Sipekne'katik Health Centre at 4:00pm.

The Sipekne’katik Family Well Being Program Annual Snowsuit Giveaway starts TODAY!
Snowsuits and jackets will be available for Sipekne’katik Community Members in sizes 0-3 months, up to youth 14-16.
Pick-up will take place in the Family Well Being Room at Sipekne’katik Community Centre. (located next to the girl’s washroom) today, Tuesday, October 29th, 2024 from 2:00pm to 8:00pm, and tomorrow Wednesday, October 30th, 2024 from 2:00pm to 6:00pm.
A limited supply is currently available, but more are on their way along with hats & mittens! We will share more details when they are available.

Edible Mushroom and Plant ID Walk
Join The Confederacy of Mainland Mi'kmaq for an Edible Mushroom and Plant ID Walk in Sipekne'katik First Nation. We will meet at the New Town Trail head.
Jessika Gauvin has two decades of experience in foraging and herbalism specializing in wild mushrooms and medicinal plants. Jessika is the President of the Mycological Society and has also extended to working with a team that assists poison control. Raised by a reconnecting Indigenous mother, Jessika was taught from a young age to foster a deep connection with the land and prioritize self-sufficiency.
Jessika will lead a walk through the trail to learn about various mushrooms and plants, which are used for food, medicine, and many other purposes!
The walk is on October 16th, 2024 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Make sure to wear good shoes and dress for the weather!

The food they will be preparing will then be shared with community Elders.
