Edible Mushroom and Plant ID Walk

Join The Confederacy of Mainland Mi'kmaq for an Edible Mushroom and Plant ID Walk in Sipekne'katik First Nation. We will meet at the New Town Trail head.

Jessika Gauvin has two decades of experience in foraging and herbalism specializing in wild mushrooms and medicinal plants. Jessika is the President of the Mycological Society and has also extended to working with a team that assists poison control. Raised by a reconnecting Indigenous mother, Jessika was taught from a young age to foster a deep connection with the land and prioritize self-sufficiency.

Jessika will lead a walk through the trail to learn about various mushrooms and plants, which are used for food, medicine, and many other purposes!

The walk is on October 16th, 2024 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Make sure to wear good shoes and dress for the weather!

Space is limited, please reach out to Jillian Shaw at
