K4 Kindergarten
Our preschool program offers our students a child-centred, play-based approach, aiming to provide engaging experiences that reflect all children's developmental needs.
Program Details
The following skills are fostered through a play-based program: cognitive, social, emotional and physical skills.
We are fortunate enough to have access to a variety of Early Intervention support people. Early Intervention is important for children who require additional support and services to thrive and grow. Children with developmental, social-emotional or behavioural needs can receive services from a variety of support people (speech-language, occupational therapy, behavioural specialist or early intensive behavioural intervention).
We include a variety of cultural practices within our program. We teach our children the importance of smudging through regular practice with the students. 2 to 3 times per month, a community elder visits and sits with the children and engages them through the Mi’kmaq language. We also have a Mi’kmaq teacher who teaches our children basic Mi’kmaq words and songs.
