Little Eagles Daycare Centre provides care to children ages 1-4 years old. The centre also provides seats for pre-school on a part-time basis if space is available.

The Daycare facilities can accommodate a maximum of 20 children. Due to the limited spacing, the Daycare staff will review and accept children as spaces become available.

The teaching staff is trained in Early Childhood Education from the Saint Joseph’s Children’s Centre located in Halifax and the Institute for Human Services Education in Truro.

The staff is trained on a regular basis to maintain a quality program under the supervision of the Mi’kmaq Employment and Training Secretariat, or METS, and in consultation with other daycares.

The Daycare Centre has a Mi’kmaq elder, Marie Francis, who comes in twice a week to provide Native Studies and Mi’kmaq language with the children.

Little Eagles staff consists of Wendy Julian- manager, Christine Syliboy, Marlene Francis – childcare, and Robyn Sack – cook. The staff are trained in First Aid and C.P.R.

Meals and snacks provided to the children are based on the Canada Food Guide.
